[UW Photo A164] Simon Lorenz @ work
This is renowned photographer Simon Lorenz shooting at famous Car Wreck off the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I was lucky enough to dive with this world class photographer and get a couple of valuable advises as an amateur photographer.
[UW Photo A156] Taprobane East Wreck – Birds eye view
Taprobane East Wreck is a typical example for a shipwreck with outstanding beauty, tranquility and life, which is nothing but a dream of any shipwreck enthusiast. The day I dived the wreck was extra special in terms of visibility. Though it lies around 30m depth, wreck was clearly visible from far. This provided me the avenue to capture a bird’s eye view of the wreck.
[UW Photo A141] Fish circling @ Nilwella wreck
Probably, this photo may not take any attention. Yet, from my point, this is an attempt to capture something different. Here we can see a school of fish circling top on a wreckage. Capturing this kind of fishes is tricky. Unless all the fishes are going in the same speed, shutter speed may not be sufficient enough. In this case, you may notice some fish are clear, some are just shown as white stripes. Please notice the wave lines on the sand as well. Though it is not perfect, I am pleased with overall sense give by the image.
[UW Photo A140] Wreck at Nilwella
Divers love exploring ship wrecks mainly due to the abundance of life they usually find within them. Yet, some like shipwrecks because it gives you the sense of connection with the history of the ship and its story. This is a photo I took of Nilwella wreck that illustrates the rustic remaining as is now. Wreck enthusiasts, like me, can admire this kind of image since for us its not merely a junk but a living artifacts of a real history.
